Prestige Whisky Auction, a bespoke family-owned auction house that specialises in buying and selling rare single malts through its monthly online auction, will sell a one-of-a-kind, 32-year-old Macallan, complete with signed limited edition ‘Explorer’ prints.

‘The Intrepid’, a 32-year-old Macallan from the prestigious Speyside distillery and standing 180cm tall, won ‘The World’s Largest Bottle of Whisky’ title when it sold at auction for £1.1m in May 2022.

Distilled on 3rd May 1989, this Macallan is a vatting of two refill American oak hogsheads, #6986 and #6992, which remained undisturbed at Speyside’s Macallan Distillery for 32 years until bottled in September 2021.

Prestige’s unique lot consists of a special 50cl bottle of this 1989 Macallan, complete with its wooden display case and, as one of only 150 bottles produced, the lot also features a boxed miniature of the malt complemented by a set of twelve autographed and framed digital prints by Sarah G. Crawley.

The prints, of explorers and adventurers such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and Felicity Aston MBE, were featured on the label of the award-winning Macallan with the aim of promoting their upcoming expeditions.

Prestige Whisky Auction has the only known bottling that includes the prints and will put this unique lot under the hammer at their forthcoming auction, starting on Monday 26th September 2022, at 8pm (GMT).
