Bottle Description
From 1962 until 1986 Glenglassaugh Distillery was only managed by 4 people and a single cask release was produced to celebrate them:
Walter Grant – March 1962 to August 1967
Bert Forsyth – September 1967 to July 1972
Jim Cryle – August 1972 to August 1974
Dod Cameron – September 1974 to December 1986
This 1974 vintage is dedicated to Jim Cryle. Distilled in 1974 and laid to rest in a refill hogshead before being bottled at the distillery.
One of only 200 bottles.
Distillery Information
The Glenglassaugh Distillery was established in 1875 by a local entrepreneur James Moir and his two nephews, Alexander and William Morrison.
The site was originally chosen due to its proximity to a clean and pure water supply (Glassaugh Springs), easy access to the nearby barley fields and because it was known locally to have been the site of one of the many illicit distilleries that had operated in the area and which had produced excellent whisky.
Important Notice
All items are carefully inspected and any marks or damage are noted within the lot description. We do however strongly recommend that you undertake a thorough close-up inspection prior to placing any bids. If you are not satisfied with the information shown and would like more details, please contact us on [email protected] and our team will be happy to help. It is also important to note that lots will be sold as seen and described.
It is important to note that should an outer box be provided, it will be photographed and shown regardless of the condition. If there is not an image of an outer box, this means it is absent and will not be provided.
All lots can have insurance against breakage or loss during transit added at an additional cost. This is available to add at the checkout at a cost of 4% of the hammer price. Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of the liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against leakage in transit.
Frequent Questions
How much does it cost to buy a lot during auction?
The successful bidder will be charged the following fees:
Buyer Commission – 10% of final winning bid, known as hammer price.
