Bottle Description
Without doubt, The Red Collection is one of the most outstanding collections released by The Macallan and it features an array of vintages - from 40 to 78 year old Macallan, bottled in 2020.
Macallan describe The Red Collection as “an exquisite range of distinguished and rare single malt Scotch whiskies, shaped by the actions of our founder Alexander Reid and key characters in our history, who have laid the foundations for our single malt today. This collection celebrates the rich range of reds present naturally in every step of our process”.
The 40 year old is described as "a peerless single malt whisky that has slowly matured over four extraordinary decades under the watchful eye of generations of whisky makers, until it has reached this perfect moment of maturation.” It is being presented by Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell and was laid down decades ago in The Macallan’s “hand-picked oak casks”. Tasting notes describe its colour as “Antique Gold”.
Its oak presentation box is crafted by hand in the UK, using the same sustainable European oak used to make The Macallan casks. The box is upholstered with sustainably sourced, soft Scottish leather from Bridge of Weir Leather.

It is important to note that should an outer box be provided, it will be photographed and shown regardless of the condition. If there is not an image of an outer box, this means it is absent and will not be provided.
All lots can have insurance against breakage or loss during transit added at an additional cost. This is available to add at the checkout at a cost of 4% of the hammer price. Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of the liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against leakage in transit.

How much does it cost to buy a lot during auction?
The successful bidder will be charged the following fees:
Buyer Commission – 10% of final winning bid, known as hammer price.
Delivery – Costs for delivery will depend on shipping address and size/weight of
package. See Shipping & Insurance for more information.
Please note that VAT (currently 20%) will be added to all costs for UK-based buyers. Those out with the UK will not be charged VAT however it may be applicable for the country to which the package is being shipped.
When is payment due for bottles I have won?
Payment should be made immediately after an auction has ended. We will allow up to 72 hours from auction end to make payment in full. If you haven’t paid for your won items within 72 hours, you will be charged a late payment fee which is 4% of the full outstanding balance.
How quickly will I receive my winning lot?
At the checkout, you will see the delivery charge and the estimated transit time. Every order will be shipped via a trackable courier service and a tracking number will be provided to you. To avoid any disappointment, please make sure that we can ship to your country prior to bidding in an auction.
